two brides dancing first dance surrounded by their guests

There are over 217,000 first dances in the UK every year (1,950,000 in the US) yet couples usually pick the same handful of songs. Have you ever wondered why tracks like Etta James' At Last and Just You And I by Tom Walker are so popular at weddings? And what makes them so timeless?

Function Central, a platform for finding and hiring musicians and bands for events, have answered exactly that! By analysing the most popular first dance songs to find the top 10 that couples choose, they have used AI to create the world's ultimate first dance song based on their findings, showing couples that they can have a timeless first dance song that is unique to their wedding.

Function Central's AI track Forever Entwined
The song is a pop ballad sang by a male. According to AI the song encompasses elements of love, eternity, dance, destiny, and the timeless nature of emotions, and is filled with motifs of binding love, moments that transcend time, and promises of forever – much like the themes found in the top ten first dance songs. The lyrics themselves are filled with emotion and are a perfect blend of the top 10 songs.

Since there isn't yet a single AI tool that can create a fully-fledged song at the touch of a button, they brought in composing and music production duo Tim Clarke and Adam Shaw to put together a track using a combination of AI-based production tools. These included: Sounddraw to create the backing track, Audiocipher to spit out melodies and Voicify to generate the vocal tone.

THE VIDEO
Finally Neuralframes, an AI-based text-to-video tool, was used to create the music video honing in on keywords from the song lyrics as prompts and Neuralframes converted them into animations modelled on visual artists.
