To celebrate the nation's love of cheese, as we head into wedding season, Mini Cheddars has brought together two pop icons - Duncan James from Blue and Claire Richards from Steps - in musical matrimony to form the ultimate wedding supergroup - Simply Wed. And one lucky couple will win an exclusive performance from 'Simply Wed' at their wedding this September. To mark the launch of the wedding supergroup, Mini Cheddars commissioned research revealing the ultimate wedding playlist with Dancing Queen by ABBA taking the top spot – 46 years after it was first released. A poll of 2,000 wedding guests saw Don't Stop Me Now by Queen and Neil Diamond's Sweet Caroline complete the top three. Also featured in the top 40 were Single Ladies by Beyonce, 5,6,7,8 by Steps and One Love by Blue.

We're having nightmares about those awkward periods during weddings we've been to where the dancefloor is empty. How can you suggest we avoid this embarrassment at our wedding?
This is a great question asked by many engaged couples. The key point to consider here is whether the right music is playing. Let's think about this, if I were to ask you: "What's your favourite music?" You may give me a list of amazing tunes, but will they set the dancefloor on fire? A better question to ask is: "What do you promise to dance to?" This will make you think about those songs you remember celebrating to.

From the 21st June, limits on wedding sizes lifted and couples across the country will be getting their wedding playlists ready, but what could be more important than the first dance song - especially for the next four weeks when this dance it the only one allowed! Selecting a song which has meaning to the special couple can be tricky. Many couples know that whatever song they choose will go on to forever be known as 'their song', which adds pressure to making the right choice. It's perhaps then no surprise that there are almost 1,000 first-dance dedicated playlists on Spotify to help couples choose, but which songs are the most favoured?
New data analysed by five-star hotel, The Grand, York has revealed the most popular songs to play during a first dance in 2021. Analysing over 57,000 songs on Spotify, the current top ten list has been revealed, and the results might just be surprising. Securing both first and third place is the hugely successful Ed Sheeran and taking second, is 2021 X Factor winner, James Arthur.
