In lieu of speedy engagements and recent couple splits that have had the globe gasping in the last decade, Sussex's Lace & Favour have taken a look back at the celebrity nuptials that made their mark on history.Online wedding accessories retailer Lace & Favour, based in Crowborough, Sussex, have released their Top 50 Iconic Celebrity Weddings of the Last Decade Index, identifying celebrity weddings from 2009 to 2019 that tipped the scale in relation to extravagance and expense. It ranks the brides, grooms, venues and, most importantly, the dresses that have left an unforgettable mark in our fashion memories and continue to inspire the newly betrothed.
Here's a peak at the Top 10...

3 Prince William and Kate Middleton 29th April 2011
4 Prince Harry and Meghan Markle 19th May 2018
5 Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra 1st December 2018
6 Chrissy Teigan and John Legend 14th September 2013
7 Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries 20th August 2011
8 Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner 1st May 2019
9 Nicky Hilton and James Rothschild July 10th 2015
10 George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin 27th September
Looking at the data compiled within the Index, the most popular wedding dress designer amongst the celebrity brides-to-be was Vera Wang with five of the brides in the countdown wearing her designs on their big day – Kim Kardashian (at two of her weddings), Rochelle Wiseman (now Humes), Chrissy Teigan, and Sabrina Dhowre.
30 out of the 50 brides featured within the index opted to wear a veil on their big day. Looking at the sales data released by Lace & Favour, more brides-to-be are investing in a beautiful veil to wear on their big day and the revenue earnt via the wedding retailer throughout spring and summer 2019 has remained steady. Favouring the veil seems to be a new trend in celebrity weddings and Lace & Favour CEO, Amy Loonie believes many of the brides-to-be shopping on Lace & Favour draw inspiration from nuptials taking place in the public eye, whilst still wanting to find bridal accessories, such as veils and hair pieces that are in-keeping with their own personal style; "We have witnessed an upward trend in brides-to-be taking inspiration from celebrity weddings and bridal designers and wanting to recreate the look, whilst still in-keeping with their own personal style. Dramatic full-length veils and vintage-inspired headpieces are forever timeless and a staple accessory on any bride's big day. We provide brides with custom-made veils that are hand-cut, sewn and made to order providing every one of our brides with a bespoke veil in a variety of lengths, perfectly matching the dress."
An even split of UK and US based couples made the Top 50 ranking as well as one bride appearing twice, having married twice within the last decade. Millie Mackintosh first wed rapper turned TV presenter, Professor Green in September 2013 and, following their split she married Made in Chelsea co-star, Hugo Taylor in July 2018. Hollywood weddings and British stately home venues are common reoccurrences within the top 50 and whilst there's no guarantee couples featured within the index are still together, the majority of the celebrity nuptials took place in either the UK or the US, with a handful of newlyweds choosing far-flung venues in locations such as Lake Como, Marrakesh and Puglia.
