Dove releases at weddings in the South East are becoming more popular as people realise there are reputable companies like Lambert's White Dove Release, in Brighton, Sussex," shares owner Viv Lambert.
Owned by mother and daughter team, Viv Lambert and Laura Folan, their doves, whose homing instinct is the same as messenger and racing pigeons, fly free all day and put themselves to bed each night in their purpose-built sheds in their gardens.
Viv and Laura loveingly care for their birds and offer dove releases at weddings, funerals and all special occasions within a 25-mile radius of their Brighton base and their amazing birds can fly 70-100mph!
For weddings they bring two doves in a pretty display cage on a white stand, decorated in flowers to match the wedding theme. Symbolising the union and onward flight of the couple, these doves are released by the bride and groom at the end of the ceremony. In a separate white wicker basket up to three extra doves are offered to represent those family and friends the couple know will be watching over them on their special day but who can only be with them in spirit. These can be released by the bride and groom or guests (giving more photo opportunities).
On release the doves rise and circle to orientate before gathering together as a flock and heading for home, and guests with iPhones are told how to take beautiful slo-mo videos as they spread their wings and fly thus creating very special keepsakes - Viv assures us, the doves' GPS works better than hers and they often arrive home before she does!
