August/September 2020

Thankfully, we’re beginning to see a glimmer of light at the end of that tunnel, and one thing I’ll take from this whole experience is just how proud I am to be part of the wedding industry. I’ve been incredibly heartened by local suppliers, who’ve been working tirelessly to help couples forced to rearrange their dream days.

We’re here to bring back the wedding joy and offer advice wherever you’re at on your journey to W-day, even if you’ve been forced backwards a few paces. Nothing warms the heart like a love story, and we have four of our readers’ to share starting on page 26. What’s more, if you’re planning a day to remember turn to page 64 for our annual cake feature, with plenty of ideas on how to personalise your own big-day bake showstopper.

We’ve also been chatting to the county’s wedding photographers who’ve rounded up their favourite images to give you a feel for the different styles and options available to you. So, if you haven’t found your perfect match yet, you’ll want to check out pages 59-63. Take your time with the decision, and do your research - booking your photographer is one of the most important elements of your planning.

Take care out there.

Pekes Manor

Pekes is a marry, stay and celebrate venue encompassing 30 acres, six houses, large gardens, a swimming pool, Jacuzzi and play area, with the rambling old Tudor brick manor house at the centre. The interior of the house is rich in period detail and characterful features with many Medieval remnants. There’s lovely oak panelling, wooden floors, tapestries, paintings, open fireplaces, a cosy sitting room, and comfortable bedrooms.

The front is covered with creepers and roses, and is approached by a brick path lined with sentinel yews. At the back is the huge Ducks Lawn framed by topiary, on which lawn games can be played and barbecues can be hosted. There’s also a gorgeous walled garden complete with chickens and the estate is surrounded by rolling Wealden farmland and woods, so there’s no shortage of stunning spots for your photographs.

Ceremonies take place in the oak-panelled Dining Room with seating capacity for up to 50 guests, or 70 standing. Alternatively, if al fresco vows are your thing, you can say “I do” on the Ceremony Lawn, with stunning views across the High Weald, accompanied by 150 loved ones.

Intimate receptions for 50 can also be held in the Dining Room. Alternatively, for larger guest lists the marquee on the main lawn can hold up to 180.
