June/July 2019

Despite being a self-confessed winterholic, I can’t say I was sorry to see the back of the dark nights. When I think of spring, what immediately comes to mind is new life. There’s just something in the air, with trees blooming and wonderful spring flowers blossoming. So if you have a gorgeous spring wedding planned, excellent choice, I say!

As the season brings with it a shift in wedding trends, I’m excited to see what this year brings. I’m already daydreaming about contemporary rustic hues with a dash of vintage chintz – dusty blue, soft green, lemon yellow and the Pantone colour of the year, Living Coral, all of which have been the inspiration behind my picks for these pages. Fresh, clean and fun – just glorious!

As soon as the weather starts brightening up, I love to get out for day trips. There are so many corners of our fabulous country to explore. Here in Sussex, we have a wealth of historic properties and plenty where you can host a wedding. Check out our roundup on page 31.

We’re all about the finer details in this issue. From the venue to, well, you, it’s those final little elements that help bring everything together perfectly. That’s why we’ll be guiding you through our A-Z of finishing touches (page 75), as well as talking to the county’s beauty professionals to get the lowdown on creating your bridal look (page 105).

Don’t forget, if you’d like to see your own “I dos” in the magazine, just drop me a line at kellya@kdmediapublishing.com

Happy planning, one and all!

The Ravenswood

Built in 1426, this manor house, filled with character and charm, boasts wooden beams, cosy corners, warm fireplaces and elegant staircases. Set within 18 acres of grounds, you’ll immediately be taken away by the elegance and charm of the place as you arrive via the private driveway. Grand entrances and tall, castle-like towers await. The extensive grounds feature four lakes, ruins, bridges, a boathouse, pleasure gardens, patio and even a giant chair!

You’ll be able to enjoy a complimentary menu tasting ahead of the big day, as well as access to the Getting Ready Room and use of the refurbished honeymoon suite, all of which are included in your wedding package.

For al fresco nuptials, the Little Castle is an idyllic spot. With outdoor seating for up to 150 loved ones, its characterful stone walls and side windows provide a fairytale focal point as guests look on.

Also capable of holding 150 is the Old Baronial Hall. The space boasts a rustic feel, with wooden beams, grand staircase, open wood fire and glass door, allowing views of the grounds.

Also available is the newly renovated Jacobean Suite.

For the wedding breakfast, the Princess Beatrice Suite can seat 160. A gorgeous round room with a wooden ceiling, elegant drapes, large windows and its own bar, you’ll be free to celebrate noon ’til night.
