What with spring's incredible coronation and the launch of Netflix’s Queen Charlotte, I’m still reeling from all things royal at the moment, while feeling very proud indeed to be British! Whether you’re a royalist yourselves, or merely found your May all the merrier being blessed with an extra bank holiday, there’s been something to celebrate. I always think of our readers as queens and kings, princess and princes, and believe you all deserve the royal treatment on your big day, so why not consider adding a regal edge to your nuptials?
Jewel-toned colour palettes are certainly seeing a surge in popularity, thanks to their opulent, rich hues; and shades such as purple and red have long been associated with royalty. When it comes to dining, think banqueting tables bedecked in gold cutlery and crystal, with tall candelabra and centrepieces. Of course, add this styling to a stately home wedding venue and you’re there!
When it comes to your attire, what could be more royal than a ballgown? Pair a full, extravagant skirt with a dramatic train and veil, and you’ll have guests gasping as you make your grand entrance. If you like this idea, but fear the volume will impede you on the dancefloor, opt for a detachable skirt, allowing you to transform your look into a sleek silhouette for the evening. Finally, your very own crown is a must-have for this theme, whether it’s a flower version for a Queen Titania twist or a bejewelled tiara.
As we enter the summer well and truly ready for some sunshine, don’t miss our host of styled shoots and real weddings this issue, all waiting to inspire as you plan for your big day.
Enjoy and keeeep planning!

Southend Barns
Set on a working farm in the beautiful West Sussex countryside, Southend Barns is surrounded by stunning landscaped gardens and there’s ample outdoor space with a picturesque courtyard that lies at the heart of the venue – safe for children and the perfect spot for reception drinks and garden games.
As evening falls, the gardens are lit with romantic up-lights that show off the fantastic flint and log walls of the wedding barns. Here guests can gather around the relaxing Collecting Yard with its sumptuous sofas, firepit and al fresco bar to enjoy a truly magical evening setting.
Southend Barns also has a fully licensed outdoor ceremony area known as The Secret Garden for up to 100 guests. An enchanting garden nestled in a tranquil spot between the resident alpacas’ field and the flint walls of the Dairy Barn.
The Dairy Barn has been lovingly restored with rustic charm and romantic touches and can host 120 loved ones for a ceremony. With a wonderful sweeping 22-metre aisle, exposed wooden beams and benches made of sweet chestnut, it’s an idyllic setting.
Post-vows, dine and dance the night away in the magnificent 200-year-old Threshing Barn, which is full of warmth and character with its authentic wooden beams and wrought iron chandeliers. The large windows provide spectacular views of the surrounding gardens and sunsets over the surrounding countryside. The Threshing Barn can seat 120 diners, and 200 guests can attend the evening reception.
When tying the knot here, there’s also on-site accommodation with a luxurious shepherd’s hut and large bridal suite that comes with everything you could need. Southend Barns has its own in-house catering team known as Roots. Offering mouth-watering and innovative menus, it runs special menu tasting events for its couples.

Feeling the pressure to get everything right and done on time is inevitable when it comes to wedding planning. With a seemingly endless todo list and preparing to expect the unexpected, the sense of overwhelm can quickly take over. This, in turn, results in its own issues such as impaired sleep, digestive issues, skin breakouts, low mood and anxiety. While it isn't helpful to tell someone planning their big day to simply not stress, thinking about ways to support a stressed body and maintain overall good health, can help prevent some of these unwanted symptoms and make the whole process more manageable. Read on to discover five ways to support yourself against stress in the run up to your wedding day, courtesy of Minal Sudra and Elizabeth Andrews at Wedding Wellness...
