Built in 1722 for the Pelham family and updated in the 1800s, the romantic and grand Stanmer House is blessed with high ceilings, oak staircases and original fireplaces. The Henry Pelham Room, features a screen of Corinthian columns, possessing the sophisticated elegance typified by architects of the era.
This lovingly restored Grade I listed country house is nestled in unspoilt parkland and acres of serene Sussex woodland, farmland and countryside. Stanmer Park is the gateway to the South Downs National Park and lies at the heart of the Living Coast UNESCO World Biosphere Region. Once safely ensconced within the confines of the grounds, you’ll never know you’re just a short 10-minute drive from the hustle and bustle of Brighton and Hove City.
The Henry Pelham Room and Marlborough Room are both licenced for ceremonies and seat 100 and 60 guests respectively. The former is part of the Henry Pelham Suite and is joined by the Thomas Pelham and Lady Anne formal rooms to create space for up to 350 for the reception. The Country Marquee set within the grounds comes complete with its own kitchen, bathrooms, and private bar. With a backdrop of the formal gardens, this all-encompassing space can accommodate up to 300 guests for your wedding breakfast and even more for an evening reception. Doors open onto the gardens, allowing you to make the most of the warm summer evenings.
There is a room available for bridal preparations on the day and you can enjoy a free menu tasting in the run up.
