Would you like to win your hen do?
GoHen.com, one of the UK's leading hen party planners, are giving one lucky bride-to-be the chance to win her...
We fell in love with real wedding couple Jade and Chris' stunning big-day bake the moment we saw it. So, we chatted to its creator Carrie Raymond from Billingshurst-based Caritas Cake Design to discover more about the design process involved in creating such a showstopper.
"There are so many directions you can take your wedding cake, so how do you narrow down the options?" Carrie says. "I start by asking some simple questions you may already know the answers to instinctively. The choices you've already made for your big day can often guide the cake design in the most natural way. By gently steering the conversation, I help cut through the noise and trends to find the right look for your wedding bake.
"When I first met Jade and Chris, they knew they wanted a tiered cake and had a colour scheme in mind but weren't sure how to approach the design itself. They brought along images and examples of their plans, acting as an informal mood board, which was perfect. We took inspiration from the texture and tones of their bridesmaids' dresses, floral arrangements, and their wedding invitation to create something personal and cohesive.
"To make the cake feel even more unique to them, we included a hand-painted monogram inspired by their invitation. Framed by painted ferns and foliage, it complemented their florals beautifully and tied in other meaningful details from the day. Indeed, the best inspiration often comes from the choices you've already made such as your colour palette, florals, stationery, even the fabric of your dress."
