The original 'Palace By The Sea', The Grand Brighton hotel, has announced its new stay and afternoon tea package to celebrate Afternoon Tea Week, taking place from 7th -13th August. Ideal for a coastal getaway, the new package combines an overnight stay in the historical luxury hotel, inclusive of breakfast, and the signature Grand Afternoon Tea experience. The package is available from August onwards.

The sea-facing Victoria Terrace, with a bright and botanical interior, provides the setting for the traditional afternoon tea experience. From the Grand Afternoon Tea menu, guests can  enjoy a variety of classic  sweet and savoury treats, complemented by the hotel's own blended leaf tea as well as a world-renowned selection of blends and infusions. Adding a touch of theatre to the  occasion, a selection of homemade cakes and pastries are presented on a vintage serving trolley. Guests are also able to take the treats home in bespoke boxes.

Executive head chef, Neil Gooding, has elevated the iconic hotel’s afternoon tea menu over the last 16 years. The menu is refreshed every three to four months, offering guests a blend of reimagined recipes alongside beloved classics. Gooding said: “In honour of Afternoon Tea Week, we’ve added some new savoury items to the start of the  experience whilst keeping the  traditional classics like finger sandwiches. Guests will spot classic cakes and desserts with exciting flavour combinations like mini meringue tart, lime and passionfruit curd (my personal favourite) or the cherry and coconut scones with clotted cream and Tiptree Strawberry Preserve.” The hotel offers vegan and gluten-free options, as well as a dedicated kid’s menu.

The Grand Brighton presents a selection of six afternoon tea packages. In addition to the signature Grand Afternoon Tea, guests can choose from the following packages:

MoëtMoments  Afternoon  Tea: Collaborating  with  Champagne House Moët & Chandon, this experience includes a glass of Moët Imperial served from a vintage-style Champagne trolley.

Chambord Spritz Afternoon Tea: This package pairs the afternoon tea with a refreshing Chambord Spritz and a chocolate delice from Sussex based luxury chocolatier, ArtChocolat.

Victoria Terrace Tea: A classic cream tea with a choice of more than 20 loose leaf blends and infusions.

Brighton G&Tea: In collaboration with local distillers, Brighton Gin, this experience offers the tipple served in a custom balloon glass, with other gin-themed accompaniments.

Ridgeview Afternoon Tea: The global award-winning sparkling wine is produced in the heart of Sussex and a glass of Ridgeview Cavendish is served with this package.

Afternoon tea is served daily at 12pm, 2pm and 4pm. For guests who prefer to savour the afternoon tea experience without an overnight stay, packages start from £38per person, and bookings can be made online at www.grandbrighton.co.uk

Women want a personal engagement ring not an expensive one

Women want a personal engagement ring not an expensive one

New research suggests a shift in how women approach one of the most traditional luxury jewellery purchases, with 75% saying they want an engagement ring to prioritise personal meaning over size or value. A study of 1,353 UK women carried out by 77 Diamonds* found that 75% say they would prioritise a personalised engagement ring over a larger or more expensive diamond. What seems to stand out is not a complete rejection of convention, but rather a rebalancing and reassessment of value. 59% of women say their preference still leans towards traditional ready-made ring designs, and only 11% want an entirely custom-made piece But the emotional drive behind preferences and purchasing decisions does appear to be changing with 30% expressing a desire for rings that carry additional meaning through small modifications, engravings or design adjustments.
