Emily and Isaac's big day had the relaxed-vibe they wanted.

Isaac Shorter and Emily Fairall met at college in October 2016 and were friends for five months before getting together. “We were attracted to one another from day one,” recalls Emily. “but both of us were too shy and unsure whether the other felt the same.”

Well, the happy pair obviously did feel the same as fast-forward eight-and-a-half-years later, and Isaac proposed! “It was while we were in Las Vegas,” says Emily. “The day didn't go to plan, firstly the surprise helicopter trip over the Grand Canyon was cancelled for safety reasons, and a romantic meal at the Lago in the Bellagio didn't happen as the restaurant couldn't find the booking details when we arrived, although we did still manage to have a lovely meal.

“In the end after a stroll along the strip Isaac popped the question in a quiet spot by one of the fountains opposite Caesars Palace.”

Luckily, the wedding planning went smoothly and the couple set the big date for 19th August, 2017, at Frickley Lake. Here, Emily tells Your Sussex Wedding more about their day...

We both loved Frickley Lake, the open space and extra little touches like the chill-out spots with firepits and rope swing area.

Back to nature: Image 2We didn't have a table plan, we wanted our guest to sit wherever they felt comfortable. This was indicated by a poem on a framed chalkboard.

Back to nature: Image 2b The bridal party were in tweed and navy, so we wanted the flowers to be bold and bright. Our florist Diana was amazing and helped us find the perfect colour combination and type of flower. We decided to have burnt orange and pink calla lilies for the bouquets and buttonholes.

We had hessian runners with a slice of a log in the centre, these were topped with varying jars and bottles of rhododendron flowers. Petals in orange and pink were also scattered around. It was simple and elegant with no two tables looking the same.

Back to nature: Image 4b The bridesmaids wore navy-blue twist-wrap floor-length dresses that they could style themselves whilst still complementing one another. The flowergirls had dresses that were handmade by Isaac's mum, they were white lace and satin with a navy sash.

We had access to the venue's warehouse which had lots of little lanterns, trinkets, mirrors, barrels and more. As extra touches, my parents made bunting for decroation and a sweet cart which was filled with retro treats – a big hit!

Back to nature: Image 6I always wanted a tea-length lace dress, however, I ended up choosing a fishtailstyle dress with a hint of sparkle! I accessorised with a handmade tiara and a veil, my something old and borrowed was my nan's ring and my new and blue were the beautiful sapphire earrings I had received as a gift from Isaac the morning of the wedding.

The groomsmen wore tweed-style waistcoats and navy-blue chinos. Isaac and the best man had the same outfit but with the addition of tweed jackets also.

Back to nature: Image 8Straight after the ceremony during the drinks reception, we had two friends of the family who played an acoustic set; and in the evening we had a live band called The Trollies.

Back to nature: Image 8b From walking down the aisle to being together when the sun set, the day was perfect. We both loved our celebrant, Kate, she put exactly how we felt into words, which made everyone emotional. The whole day went off without a hitch and was exactly what we hoped it would be.

Stephanie, our photographer, was amazing and helped the day run to plan, she really went above and beyond.
