Rebecca and Luke tied the knot at Worthing Dome, with Art Deco twists complementing their historic venue

Rebecca and Luke met at RAF Benson in Oxfordshire. Rebecca was an admin clerk, and Luke was a Royal Marine. "He used to try to find things wrong with his payslips as an excuse to hang around the office and flirt with me," the bride says.

Luke popped the question in South Africa while the pair were away on a safari holiday. Rebecca describes it best: "We were dining al fresco at a gorgeous safari lodge, the stars were sparkling, the fire was glowing and he took the ring out and asked me to marry him!" Unfortunately, although wonderfully romantic, the proposal wasn't a surprise because Luke had accidentally sent Rebecca the email conversation between himself and the safari lodge manager detailing his plans – oops!

The date was set for 2nd September, 2018, and here the bride tells us more about the big day…

The seafront location, the size and the character attracted us to Worthing Dome. Luke grew up in Worthing and used to go to the cinema there a lot.

My dress was a vintage style by True Bride. Since it was so detailed, I kept the accessories simple, pairing it with a plain veil and beaded hairpiece.

Decadently deco: Image 3 I was a bag of nerves just before the ceremony, but as soon as I saw Luke and all my friends, I instantly became calmer. I think I underestimated how emotional the day would be, and I did get a bit teary later on.

I made the table plan with an Art Deco border to complement the setting.

The centrepieces consisted of gold candelabra topped with flowers matching my bouquet, draped in pearls and set upon large mirrored plates.

Decadently deco: Image 5 The most memorable moment of the day, for me, was seeing Luke's face as I walked down the upon large mirrored plates aisle. The speeches will also stick in my mind, as my dad did a great job of embarrassing me with his – as dads always should!

The floral arrangements comprised white roses – as I'm a Yorkshire girl – eucalyptus, blue hydrangea and gypsophila. For wedding favours, we purchased charity pin badges from the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

We decided to keep the cake simple, so we asked a friend to make us a lemon sponge covered with blue icing. My mum made the cake stand in an Art Deco style with lots of draped pearls.

Luke was dressed in a flannel glen check three-piece suit in dove grey, with a double-breasted waistcoat and pale blue shirt. He accessorised with aroyal blue silk tie, antique gold pocket square and dark brown shoes. Both his and his groomsmen's suits were designed and made by Luke Morgan atGresham Blake, Brighton.

The bridesmaids all wore dresses in the same colour and fabric but all in different styles.

We'd always wantedto have a live band atour wedding and choseSoul Brother, a six-pieceall-male band thatperformed the classics,as well as modern hitsin their own style. Theywere fantastic!

Luke says his favourite moment was whenthe band was in full swing and everyonewas on the dancefloor. As he says, a busydancefloor is a sign of a good wedding!
