August/September 2022

August/September 2022

W-day is imminent! As the County Wedding Magazines editorial crew prepare to see our beloved senior editor Melissa become a Mrs, we can’t help but be niggled by at least a small sense of shock at just how quickly the big day has come around. Something, I’ve no doubt you’re all experiencing too as your own weddings draw closer.

Christmas Day 2020 feels like only yesterday, when my fellow bridesmaid, Olivia, and I bombarded Melissa with WhatsApp messages: “Has he done it yet? Has he done it yet?” We knew the proposal was imminent you see, and were more than just a tad excited! Boy, have we had an adventure together since: the tears of joy at being asked to be bridesmaids (“Are you sure you want me?”), the fun of shopping for the dresses, and the hilarity of the hen dos (yes plural, she deserves it). The past year-and-a-half has seen us grow closer as friends, not just Melissa, Olivia and I – the three amigos; but also with our gorgeous fellow bridesmaid Nolwenn and the groom, dear Dave. Weddings have a habit of doing that don’t they? Of course, they’re a celebration of love between the all-important couple, but more than that, they allow a much wider expression of love for friends, family and even furbabies! After all, that’s why we’re all here isn’t it? I know it’s why I spend my days writing about your amazing big days and why I never tire of looking at the resulting photographs. To quote a hero of mine, RuPaul: “Everybody say love.”

I hope you enjoy the oodles of inspiration this issue has to offer. We’ve got three gorgeous styled shoots packed with ideas from the region’s finest wedding suppliers, as well as three incredible real weddings. Plus, we introduce you to some of the county’s finest wedding photographers and find out what makes them tick, as well as showcasing some jaw-dropping big-day bakes by Sussex’s talented cake designers. So, dive in!

Enjoy and keeeep planning!

Cottesmore Hotel Golf and Country Club

This welcoming venue is set within 247 acres of stunning West Sussex countryside, and is home to 36 holes of golf, two lakes, a 26-bedroom hotel and seven self-catering lodges. The club house and hotel are part of the original charm and character of the 1884 farm buildings and the new parts have been carefully constructed to match the original brickwork.

Civil ceremonies can be held either indoors in the oak-beamed Barn Room or al fresco on the immaculate wedding lawn. Nestled in a tree-lined glade it offers you and your loved ones peace, tranquillity and romance. Both options have space for up to 150 of your nearest and dearest.

The Challis Suite, Buchan Suite and Barn Room can host up to 150 for a wedding breakfast and up to 200 for an evening reception. Their connected, flexible and multi-functional layout allows for a more personal and bespoke celebration. Meanwhile, ambient, colour-themed lighting plus Bose and SONOS sound systems ensure maximum impact. Full of natural daylight, floor-to-ceiling windows overlook the French-styled courtyard, which is complete with ornate fountain, pretty pots and planters, and the perfect place for a drinks reception. Charming antler chandeliers adorn the exposed beams and the marble-topped bar creates an impressive feature, as well as being fully stocked with the latest draught beers, wines and spirits.

Lush Dragon's Egg bath bomb is going gold for Childhood Cancer Awareness month

Lush's cult favourite Dragon's Egg bath bomb is going gold for Childhood Cancer Awareness month launching online from 23rd September and in all Lush UK&I stores from 24th September 2022. This September, it's with heavy hearts that Lush UK&I is going gold for childhood cancer awareness month. This year the Constantine family (the co-founders of Lush) lost seven-year-old Dexter Constantine-Tatchell, their Master of Dragons. He fought fiercely against Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare childhood cancer that lacks awareness as well as a lack of funding for research and treatment.
