February/March 2021

As we wave ta-ta and good riddance to 2020, I hope you all had the chance to raise a glass to 2021 with your loved ones, feeling the warmth of hope. While we still need to be careful to keep each other safe, I think there’s reason to look forward to the future. To all of you who’ve seen their wedding plans changing by the second of late, I’d like to virtually shake all of you by the hand. Don’t give in! Here at Your Sussex Wedding, we don’t plan to shift in our resolutely optimistic celebration of everything wedding and we love taking you along for the ride. So, let’s support our local wedding industry, so that we can all come out the other side, happy that love won. Come on 2021, you got this!

Let’s start the year with a bang. We’ve got our usual fabulous blend of real weddings (from page 28) and stunning styled shoots (from page 47) that you absolutely won’t want to miss. If weather worries are dampening you’re spirits, feel reassured by our showcase of stunning wedding photography captured in all conditions over on page 55.

Finally, one thing that never fails to cheer me up is the wealth of stunning dresses that our lovely fashion editor Claire gathers together for her fashion roundups, so be sure to check out the latest from page 79.

Bailiffscourt Hotel & Spa

With the appearance of an ancient manor house, Bailiffscourt’s best-kept secret is that until 1927 it didn’t exist! Designed for Lord Moyne, then Walter Guinness of the brewing family, original stone, woodwork, doors, windows and fireplaces were sourced to create the Medieval-style country house and park we see today. Sumptuous, timeless and inspiring – Bailiffscourt offers a one-ofa- kind setting with a romantic and elegant ambience for weddings at any time of year. Just a few steps from the hotel is the luxurious and contemporary spa with facilities that include an indoor pool and stunning outdoor heated infinity pool, hot tub, fitness suite, relaxation lounge and six treatment rooms.

Ceremonies take place in The Music Room, a characterful room that’s hung with tapestries and boasts a fireplace complete with roaring fire for winter weddings, and wooden floors. It can accommodate 40 guests seated or 65 standing. For blessings, the 13th-century onsite Norman chapel is an option and has the same capacity. Filled with candles and flowers it’s the perfect romantic setting.

The Music Room can also host your reception for 40 seated for a wedding breakfast. Alternatively, the elegant Tapestry Restaurant is available for up to 80 people, and is resplendent with Medieval architecture, mullioned windows and tapestry-hung walls.

De Vere donates over £200,000 to NHS Charities Together

De Vere, a collection of historic mansion house estates and distinctive contemporary hotels - many of which are outstanding wedding venues - has donated £202,248 to NHS Charities Together to help NHS staff, volunteers and patients at the centre of the COVID-19 crisis. The money was raised when De Vere pledged a proportion of the value of each direct bedroom booking, including VAT, to NHS Charities Together* after the hotels were allowed to open in August 2020. De Vere's donation will help support NHS staff, volunteers and patients in key areas including welfare and wellbeing, assistance for patients leaving hospital, and long-term mental health support for NHS workers.
