August/September 2020

As I write, I try to turn my mind to all things positive, as thankfully, we’re beginning to see a glimmer of light at the end of that tunnel. One thing I’ll take from this whole experience is just how proud I am to be part of the wedding industry. I’ve been incredibly heartened by local suppliers, who’ve been working tirelessly to help couples forced to cancel their dream days, and live in hope that we’ll all be able to celebrate together again soon.

We’re here to offer some light relief and advice wherever you’re at on your journey to W-day, even if you’ve been forced backwards a few paces. Nothing warms the heart like a love story, and we have four of our readers’ to share starting on page 26. What’s more, if you’re planning a day to remember turn to page 64 for our annual cake feature, with plenty of ideas on how to personalise your own big-day bake showstopper.

We’ve also been chatting to the county’s wedding photographers who’ve rounded up their favourite images to give you a feel for the different styles and options available to you. So, if you haven’t found your perfect match yet, you’ll want to check out pages 59-63. Take your time with the decision, and do your research - booking your photographer is one of the most important elements of your planning.

Take care out there.

The Gallivant

Set behind the dunes and extraordinary sandy beach beyond sits The Gallivant. A relaxing beach-house hotel, its hosts chilled-out weddings, complete with sand between the toes, for those who want to escape the ordinary. Most weddings move from the hotel to the beach and back again, depending on what’s been agreed.

There are 20 beautiful bedrooms, a sitting room with roaring log fire in the colder months, a book lined snug that you won’t want to leave, a dog-friendly bar that looks like it was dropped in from Hoxton, and a dining room that nods to the Hamptons. After last year’s million-pound renovation the hotel has never looked more beautiful.
