April/May 2019

Despite being a self-confessed winterholic, I can’t say I was sorry to see the back of the dark nights. When I think of spring, what immediately comes to mind is new life. There’s just something in the air, with trees blooming and wonderful spring flowers blossoming. So if you have a gorgeous spring wedding planned, excellent choice, I say!

As the season brings with it a shift in wedding trends, I’m excited to see what this year brings. I’m already daydreaming about contemporary rustic hues with a dash of vintage chintz – dusty blue, soft green, lemon yellow and the Pantone colour of the year, Living Coral, all of which have been the inspiration behind my picks for these pages. Fresh, clean and fun – just glorious!

As soon as the weather starts brightening up, I love to get out for day trips. There are so many corners of our fabulous country to explore. Here in Sussex, we have a wealth of historic properties and plenty where you can host a wedding. Check out our roundup on page 31.

We’re all about the finer details in this issue. From the venue to, well, you, it’s those final little elements that help bring everything together perfectly. That’s why we’ll be guiding you through our A-Z of finishing touches (page 75), as well as talking to the county’s beauty professionals to get the lowdown on creating your bridal look (page 105).

Don’t forget, if you’d like to see your own “I dos” in the magazine, just drop me a line at kellya@kdmediapublishing.com

Happy planning, one and all!

Michelham Priory House & Gardens

Michelham Priory is located in the beautiful Cuckmere Valley of East Sussex, close to the South Downs, offering complete tranquility. The moment you step through the 14th-century gatehouse, walking past the Tudor manor house to the Elizabethan Great Barn, your future meets the past.

The seven acres of beautiful gardens provide a multitude of stunning locations for your photographs. You’ll have plenty of opportunity to carry on enjoying them after the big day, as an annual membership to the Sussex Archaeological Society is included in your wedding package.

Ceremonies are held in the Great Elizabethan Barn, which is brimming with original features and charm. Capable of comfortably seating 130, the location is flexible to allow smaller parties without feeling overwhelmed by the space.

Just outside is the beautiful private moat terrace, a gorgeous spot for your drinks reception. Here you and your guests can enjoy romantic views overlooking the Priory house, historic watermill and moat.

Later on, move your celebrations back into the Great Barn, which seats 130 loved ones for dining and dancing.
