Superfood your skin

Q+A Vitamin A.C.E Warming Gel Mask

British indie beauty brand Q+A launch one of their most innovative skincare products yet – the Vitamin A.C.E. Warming Gel Mask, £8.50. Quite literally a healthy fruit salad for the skin, this antioxidant rich, ultra-nourishing, radiance boosting mask, is bursting with a special blend of active ingredients to feed the skin and instantly renew the complexion. Q+A founder Freddy Furber has worked with his team of chemists for over a year to develop the formula.

Faye Purcell, Development Chemist and skincare expert at Q+A says “It’s the perfect vitamin hit. We’ve combined over 10 superfruits like cherry and acai along with avocado and algae to really pack a punch. Our micro-algae dunaliella salina is a salt-loving organism which has been developed to survive harsh conditions. One such development is its high-level of beta-carotene, a precursor to vitamin A, which the body can convert into retinol. When you use a product with retinoids, they are either synthetic or animal-derived, so by using a plant-derived carotenoid like dunaliella salina, you are still getting the skin health and healing benefits of traditional retinol, but without sacrificing naturals. The other unique thing about this mask is that its anhydrous. Most masks contain water but ours is oil-based making it extremely rich and nourishing”

The mask's key ingredients

Acai – rich in in vitamins B1, B2, B3, C and E, a brilliant youth-booster, these increase collagen production and help keep skin plump and luminous

Cranberry seed oil – high in antioxidants, essential fatty acids, and omegas 3, 6 and 9, cranberries help protect the skin against damage caused by UV exposure by strengthening your natural skin barrier

Camu camu – an excellent antioxidant, it has one of the highest vitamin C contents of all fruits. It brightens the skin, evens out tone and texture and helps protect against UV damage as well as giving skin some seriously good glow

Blackcurrant Oil – responsible for promoting new, healthy skin cell and helps restore damaged and wrinkled skin

Cherry – another fruit with impressive powers, they contain vitamins A, B, C and D. Cherries help refresh the skin for a more youthful complexion as well as doing a great job of balancing natural oils

Avocado – soothes, prevents skin damage and dryness, improves elasticity, and minimises breakouts

Algae – hydrates, plumps, tones, and protects and repairs from environmental damage due to its mix of essential vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients, and fatty acids
