Six hero beauty buys of 2021

Having celebrated our second Easter in lockdown the team at www.feelunique.com have sifted through thousands of searches and sales figures and can now reveal the six hero beauty products that have sky-rocketed in popularity and curiosity over the past year.

Drumroll please...

The Ordinary Niacinamide

The Ordinary Niacinamide
Monthly searches for The Ordinary Niacinamide jumped 511 per cent during lockdown months with sales increasing 40 per cent at Feelunique. Customers heap on praise for this multi-tasking wonder serum thanks to its ability to minimise pores, balance oils and keep uninvited spots at bay. Honestly, it's so good the team have had a hard time keeping it in stock, so nab it while you can.

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Multi-Recovery Complex

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Multi-Recovery Complex
There's a reason this serum (ANR, for faithful devotees) has earned icon status. It works. Lightweight and silky in texture, it tackles dryness, dullness and dehydration as well as the more obvious signs of ageing. Massage a few drops into skin in the PM and expect a radiant visage come your morning alarm. Although this one comes with a higher price point than other popular lockdown beauty products, searches for Advanced Night Repair has jumped up 124 per cent, proof that we were looking to invest in skincare that delivers on its promises.

CeraVe Eye Cream

CeraVe Eye Cream
The no-frills skincare brand became the surprise TikTok beauty sensation of 2020, and as a result, between March 2020 and February 2021 CeraVe's average monthly sales shot up by 596 per cent at Feelunique.

CeraVe's Education Manager Rosie Varlas explains, "CeraVe has an affordable price point but the products are packed with powerful hydrating and repairing ingredients. The products are enriched with a blend of three essential ceramides, hyaluronic acid, fatty acids and other lipids to help repair and strengthen the skin's natural barrier.
These unique properties are why CeraVe has proven to be so popular, especially during lockdown when so many people are suffering with an impaired skin barrier, not only on their face due to wearing face coverings, but also their hands as a result of washing them more throughout the day."

The standout? CeraVe Eye Cream, with average monthly searches increasing 247 per cent.

Olaplex No 3 Hair Perfector

Olaplex No 3 Hair Perfector
No surprise here. With salons closed, more and more of us reached for the Olaplex's cult strand-saver (searches have increased 174 per cent over lockdowns). According to the experts, it's the OG hair treatment and only patented technology of its kind that actually repairs damaged and colour-treated hair, working on a molecular level to re-link the bonds broken by chemical damage - meaning no more split ends.

Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm

Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm
A consistent bestseller, ELEMIS' sumptuous cleansing balm is an at-home facial essential as proven by the 186 per cent surge in lockdown sales. Cleansing with an oil-like consistency before becoming a hydrating cleansing milk, this transformative, 3-in-1 textured cleanser can even be used as a nourishing face mask.

Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream

Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream
Thanks to the combination of cold weather and mask-wearing, monthly searches for Kiehl's best-selling hydrator increased by 49 per cent over lockdown 1.0 and 2.0. If you're looking for a featherweight moisturiser you won't find one as light or fast-absorbing as this. But don't let that fool you - this hardworking cream is also packed with deeply nourishing ingredients (think: glycerin, squalane, avocado oil and vitamin E) to guarantee all-day hydration.
