October/November 2018

Well, hello lovely brides of Sussex and welcome to my very first issue of Your Sussex Wedding magazine! I’m extremely excited to be bringing you the absolute best of what our amazing county has to offer your wedding. We’ve pulled together some of the best products handmade in Sussex, from stationery to bridal party gifts and hen do goodies.

For me the most thrilling part of the planning process is dress shopping! Have a browse through our bridal boutiques special in this issue, where our local experts will talk you through the latest wedding dress trends and vitally, which one might be for you.

Having been a Brownie and a Girl Guide I’m a huge advocate of being prepared! Our Hot Topic experts advise on the most common wedding day pitfalls and crucially, how you can avoid them, ensuring your day runs smoothly.

But before I sign off for this issue, let me tell you a little about myself. Whilst not ruling out the idea that one day my prince will come along, I’m still very much enjoying my singledom. However, make no mistake! I... am… wedding… obsessed! Like a lot of ladies, please tell me I’m not alone, I may have experienced the odd musing on what my big day would be like. So you can imagine the playground Your Sussex Wedding has brought to my door! I hope the pages of this issue help you with some inspiration while planning your own wedding.

Proud Country House, Stanmer Park

Built in 1722 for the Pelham family and updated in the 1800s, the romantic and grand Stanmer House is blessed with high ceilings, oak staircases and original fireplaces. The Henry Pelham Room, features a screen of Corinthian columns, possessing the sophisticated elegance typified by architects of the era.

This lovingly restored Grade I listed country house is nestled in unspoilt parkland and acres of serene Sussex woodland, farmland and countryside. Stanmer Park is the gateway to the South Downs National Park and lies at the heart of the Living Coast UNESCO World Biosphere Region. Once safely ensconced within the confines of the grounds, you’ll never know you’re just a short 10-minute drive from the hustle and bustle of Brighton and Hove City.

The Henry Pelham Room and Marlborough Room are both licensed for ceremonies and seat 100 and 60 guests respectively. The former is part of the Henry Pelham Suite and is joined by the Thomas Pelham and Lady Anne formal rooms to create space for up to 350 for the reception. The Country Marquee set within the grounds comes complete with its own kitchen, bathrooms, and private bar. With a backdrop of the formal gardens, this all encompassing space can accommodate up to 300 guests for your wedding breakfast and even more for an evening reception. Doors open onto the gardens, allowing you to make the most of the warm summer evenings.

There is a room available for bridal preparations on the day and you can enjoy a free menu tasting in the run up.
