June/July 2018

Last month I tied the knot myself so joined the Team Bride brigade along with all of our previous CWM readers who have gone on to say ‘I do’. We’d actually picked our rose gold and blush colour scheme way before it became as popular as it was in 2017 – quite the trendsetter – and, although it all looked exactly how I envisioned on the day I’m already full of new ideas, inspired by the last few months of 2018 alone!

What we have in this issue of Your Sussex Wedding has tickled my design tastebuds; I opted for an Art Deco dress however our bohemian bridal fashion feature over on page 84 makes me want to go back and channel a natural goddess-vibe, meanwhile the shoot created by local suppliers on page 73 showcases the beauty of a dark colour palette – blush is so last season! And, if only I had read about the amazing music and entertainment options out there, as featured on page 55 – we hired a jukebox which was great fun but looking back a couple of extra surprise acts would have gone down a treat.

I’ve put together a moodboard of a hot trend I’m loving right now: club tropicana – and the sun’s finally warming up the UK too!

Hope you enjoy reading this issue as much as I’ve had writing it for you!

Ashdown Park Hotel & Country Club

Your Sussex Wedding sales executive Stephanie Hamilton-Smith had the pleasure of reviewing this gorgeous hotel. Here she tells us more about it...

“As you arrive at Ashdown Park you are instantly in awe of the beautiful country house and its surroundings. Having arrived on a freezing cold day with some snow settling, it looked particularly romantic.

“We were warmly greeted by reception and shown to our room by a knowledgeable porter. He gave us some history and insight in to the hotel which was a lovely addition to the customer experience.

“The suite had impressive little touches, including chocolate-dipped strawberries, chocolate truffles and Molton Brown toiletries. The bathroom was truly the most spectacular I’ve ever seen, with a huge stained-glass window showcasing the hotel’s charm and character perfectly.

“What better way to start the stay than to move on to the Spa & Health Club which is a short stroll from the main house. The Health Club has an array of impressive amenities including a fully equipped gym, sauna, steam room, pool and jacuzzi to while away the stresses of the day.

“With fluffy robes and slippers handed to us on arrival and friendly spa staff, we enjoyed the calming atmosphere and got to kick back and relax! There are plenty of treatments available, as well as bespoke spa days such as the De-stress spa package which includes two revitalising treatments and lunch – perfect for all hectic brides-to-be planning their big day!

“After, we made our way back to the room to get ready for dinner at the two AA Rosette, award-winning Anderida Restaurant, which is conveniently located on-site.

“The restaurant has a grand and elegant feel to it, which the extravagant à la carte menu complements perfectly; we chose the hand-dived scallops for starters, the tomahawk steak for two for main and the crème brûlée and chocolate fondant for dessert, we were certainly not disappointed with our choices. The food was excellent and the restaurant staff were friendly and attentive with our glasses never going empty!

“Ending the evening in the spacious suite with the huge comfy bed, we were certainly set up to have a peaceful night’s sleep. Breakfast in the morning was your choice of either an extensive luxurious buffet, or you could also have made-to-order items.

"Ashdown Park Hotel is a simply stunning venue which would make a great wedding experience for you and all your guests, from the food to the accommodation to the beautiful Sussex Countryside surroundings. It offers fully comprehensive wedding packages for up to 150 guests, allowing you to leave the planning to them and let their dedicated team of wedding coordinators take the stress away leaving you to enjoy your big day hassle free.”
